The largest Powerball jackpot was won in the Golden State in November 2022 by a single winning ticket purchased by Edwin Castro. The grand prize was worth $2.04 billion, and the winner took the cash option of $997.6 million. Many big Mega Millions jackpots have also been won in California. The biggest one, won in July 2018, was worth $543 million and was claimed by a group of 11 co-workers.
