How to Claim California Lottery Prizes
Struck by luck and won a prize? If you have a valid ticket for the relevant draw, then it’s time to start the claiming process? You need to claim your prize within 180 days from the date of the winning draw.
However, if you won a Powerball or Mega Million jackpot, you have one year from the date of the winning jackpot to claim your prize.
You can claim your prize by mail regardless of its amount.
Prizes worth $599 or less
If you won a prize which is worth $599 or less, you can claim it at any California Lottery retailer. Alternatively, if you want to claim in person, you can visit any California Lottery District Office.
Prizes of more than $600
Won some big bucks? If your prize is worth more than $600, the Lottery will inform the IRS about the win.
The processing time for your claim can be between six and eight weeks. You won’t be able to claim a prize of this value at a retailer, so mail in your winning ticket or go to a Lottery District Office.
Claiming by mail
If you choose to redeem your prize by mail, you need to sign your ticket and complete a claim form.
You should keep a copy of the documents. Then, send the originals to the address below:
