How to Play Daily Derby
Want to mix the thrill of horse racing and the excitement of a lottery? Then Daily Derby will become your next favorite game! Visit your nearest California Lottery retailer and ask for a Daily Derby ticket. In order to enter, you need to:
Choose your Horses
It’s time to go to the races! Firstly, you need to select three lucky horses to finish first, second and third place. If you can’t make your mind up, you can choose the Quick Pick option and your horses will be picked at random for you.
Choose the Race Time
Choose the Race Time, meaning the amount of time you think it will take your fastest horse to win. The Race Time you choose must be between 1:40:00 and 1:49:99. You need to pick just the last three numbers. For example, if your chosen Race Time is 1:45:99, the numbers you would mark on your playslip would be 5:99
Choosing with Quick Pick
Still can’t decide on your horses and race times? No problem! You can ask the lottery retailer for a Quick Pick. Choosing Quick Pick allows you to enter the game using randomly generated horses and/or random Race Times.
Select your draws
Select the ‘Advance Play’ option if you'd like to enter multiple draws. With this feature, you are able to play using the same selections for 1-7, or 14 consecutive drawings.
Buy your tickets
Pay for your ticket. Each entry costs $2. Ensure that you purchase your tickets before the ticket sales close at 6:30 PM PT, the draw is held shortly after that time. Once you've purchased your ticket, you are all set to enter the exciting race!
How to Win
To get the Grand Prize, you must match the three top horses in the correct order, and the Race Time. In addition to the Grand Prize, there are smaller prizes for matching different combinations of winning horses and race times. Go to the Odds and Prizes page to see all the different ways to win.
When to check the results?
You will find the latest Daily Derby results on the Numbers page, shortly after the draw is held. Check to see if you’ve matched the top horses and race time, and find out if you’ve won one of the many prizes on offer!
